October has come and gone, but if you have sensitive skin like me, you're still getting over Halloween spookiness and Breast Cancer Awareness Month's excitement! Try this DIY homemade sugar body scrub recipe from the Simple Veganista to soothe your skin after such a busy month. All-natural, cruelty-free, non-toxic, eco-friendly, vegan, and perfect for anyone with breast health on their mind! You only need 5 ingredients, and you can even customize the scent!
1 cup: sugar of choice (organic pure cane, brown pure cane, turbinado, etc.)
3 TBSP, give or take: oil of choice (sweet almond oil, jojoba, or extra virgin oil)
Optional: 1 TSP: Vanilla extract without alcohol
Optional: few drops of vitamin E oil
Optional: juice of 1/2 of a lemon OR a few drops of your favorite essential oils! A couple sprays of our eucalyptus spray will also work here! 😉
The best part about this is that there are tons of variations that make it easy to get creative. Feel free to mix up ingredients and try different types of sugars like turbinado or organic cane sugar which have benefits of having higher levels of vitamins than white table sugar. The exfoliation properties will give your skin an amazing glow without any harsh chemicals.
In a small/medium size container, add a little oil to the sugar (1 TBSP at a time) and stir between additions. You want to make sure the consistency is not too wet, but not too thick and stiff - more sand-like. If the mix is too soupy, the sugars will dissolve in a day or two and not slough the skin as well, but you will still get added moisture from the oil.
How to Use
You can use this sugar scrub after a bath or right after showering. First, dry excess water off your skin, then apply the scrub in circular motions all over your body - even your face! If you're bathing, be sure to follow the same process and allow your skin to soften for 20 minutes first by soaking!
To make the experience even better, grab yourself a bottle of our 100% eucalyptus shower mist that will elevate your shower experience to truly feel like a spa. It's even available in a travel size to take on the go! Before you get in, let the shower run for a minute and then spray away! You won't regret it😉
Ideally, you should keep this scrub sealed in a container, and it lasts for about a month. It works best if used 2-3 times a week, depending on how abrasive your sugar is. You DO NOT need to add preservatives to this recipe since there's no water!
Now go on and enjoy the rest of your day guilt free!🥰
