Next up in our Freedom Survivor series is Danielle Tropsa. She was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 30 and endured a double mastectomy, chemotherapy and reconstructive surgery. What got her through her fight was her amazing support system of friends and family as well as her passion for dance.
Danielle has been a dancer since she was 4 years old. While she was in treatment and didn’t have the energy to dance, she would turn on music. She was able to feel the movement and see the moves in her head to get her through the worst of her battle.
She hopes to inspire others to find the positive in everything and remind them to look for the silver lining. Changing your mindset around discouraging experiences can make life that much more beautiful. Follow @wears_trops on Instagram to watch her live every day bold, large and with so much love!

It is agreed on by experts that cancer can be caused by more than one thing. Genetics, hormones and the environment are all factors. Genetics and hormones aren't really something that a person has control of, but they do have control of their environment. Danielle wants to keep her environmental factors low, therefore she lives a healthy lifestyle and still dances as often as she can.
Some environmental factors that may possibly play a role in increasing breast cancer are:
- Lack of physical activity
- Using chemicals on the body
- Smoking
- Drinking alcohol
- Women who don't have children, or have them after 30
- Poor diet
- Chest radiation
This is not to say that if these factors pertain to you, you will get breast cancer. They are precautionary and something to think about to keep your body as healthy as possible.
Obviously, we are NOT healthcare professionals, we just REALLY believe that this is important!!. Please talk with your doctor and follow their medical advice.
