Benefits of Meditation

We’ve all heard about meditation, but what really is it and what’s so cool about it? Well, meditation is a practice where an individual uses a technique – such as mindfulness, or focusing the mind on a particular object, thought, or activity – to train attention and awareness, and achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm and stable state.

There are so many benefits to meditation that can help you live a more balanced and purposeful life. It can aid you to increase awareness of yourself and your surroundings as well as a way to reduce stress and improve concentration. Some of the other benefits of meditation include further developing positive feelings and outlook, healthy sleep patterns, and even increased pain tolerance. 

We are going to walk you through some of the benefits that meditation has on the mind, body, and spirit: 

    Mind
    • Helps with anxiety. Meditation is known to cut down emotional reactivity, so as a result, it reduces depression, anxiety, and stress. 
    • Promotes emotional health. With time, meditation can improve your outlook on life while reducing emotional explosions. 
    • Increases energy. You will start to notice a spike in energy levels after you meditate as well as increased and improved creativity. 
    Body
    • Helps control pain. Did you know that your perception of pain is connected to your state of mind? Meditation can help elevate this!
    •  Can decrease blood pressure and heart disease. Blood pressure not only decreases during meditation but also over time in individuals who meditate regularly. This can reduce strain on the heart and arteries, helping prevent heart disease.
    • Enhances immune system. Since your immune system responds to both negative and positive thoughts, meditation creates a positive mental environment for the immune system to flourish and do its job.  
    Spirit
    • Enhances self awareness. The more you practice meditating, you will begin to notice a change in your own self awareness. You will start to be more compassionate and empathetic towards yourself and your relationships.
